How Strategic Design Unlocked Global Science Insights for Wellcome Trust

THE CHALLENGE
Wellcome Trust's global study into attitudes towards science and health generated massive datasets—but researchers struggled to extract actionable insights from the complexity. The data's potential impact was locked away in inaccessible formats.

THE INSIGHT
Through field discovery with the research community, Hetco discovered that scientists needed multiple entry points into the same data. Some required dynamic exploration tools, others needed distilled insights for decision-making. The breakthrough was realising that different research questions demanded different data lenses.

THE SOLUTION
We created a dual-format approach: an interactive online tool for dynamic data exploration and a printed report highlighting key global trends. Multiple analytical lenses helped researchers quickly identify patterns relevant to their specific needs, transforming raw data into strategic intelligence.

THE IMPACT
Researchers now have unprecedented access to global science attitudes, enabling evidence-based policy decisions and research prioritisation. The tool has democratised access to insights that were previously buried in complex datasets, amplifying the study's influence across the scientific community.
