Discovering the future of home fitness
How mapping cultural trends reVEALED shifting paradigms

THE CHALLENGE
Lululemon Studio (formerly Mirror) needed to understand how post-pandemic paradigm shifts were reshaping home fitness behaviour, translating emerging cultural trends around wellness and technology adoption into strategic product and content decisions for their smart home gym platform.

THE INSIGHT
Through mixed methods research with fitness enthusiasts, former athletes, and experts—from fitness instructors and music curators to olfactory experience designers—we identified key shifts in workout attitudes and behaviours. The findings revealed a move from static home hardware to dynamic content ecosystems, from generic pre-recorded experiences to personalised interactions, and from guesswork to data-informed wellness approaches.

THE SOLUTION
We developed a strategic insights repository that mapped specific needs against each area, ensuring emerging wellness trends directly informed both technology platform and content programming decisions. This framework enabled the transition from hardware-focused thinking to experience-centred product development.

THE IMPACT
Our insights repository informed Lululemon Studio's future experience design pipeline, influencing device development and content strategy whilst helping navigate the complex Peloton partnership transition during a critical period of industry transformation.
